Since most websites require email addresses to build accounts, email is not only a popular form of business communication, but it is also an important part of our everyday online lives.

The contacts list, which is crucial to our personal and business correspondence, is one of the most powerful productivity features of any email communication.

How to Sync Contacts in Outlook

The steps in this guide may differ depending on the operating system and computer you’re using. Until continuing with the sync setup, make sure Outlook has access to Contacts.

Sync Contacts From Outlook To Android

Your email provider must use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to sync Outlook contacts with your Android computer. Most big email providers, such as Gmail, do.

  • Open Settings on your Android computer, then select Apps (or Applications).
  • Choose Outlook from the menu bar.
  • Choose Permissions from the App Settings menu.
  • Toggle the Contacts switch on to make it active (if disabled).
  • Go to Settings in the Outlook app.
  • Select your account, then Sync Contacts.

Gmail and Outlook Contacts Sync

Gmail is a well-known email service with over 1.5 billion monthly active users. Since it uses Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, it’s simple to sync your Outlook contacts with this provider.

  • To sync your Outlook contacts with Gmail, download or upgrade the Gmail app (if it isn’t already installed on your device).
  • Gmail will ask you to sign-in with your Outlook account. To do this, you’ll need a valid Outlook account, so create one if you don’t already have one, set it up, and test the Sync on your screen.
  • From the Gmail app, sign in to your Outlook account using the same password you use on your laptop. On the left side of Gmail, tap Menu (three horizontal lines).
  • Go to the Settings tab.
  • Select Add Account.
  • You’ll see a list of email services that the Gmail app supports on the next page. Select Exchange and Office 365 from the drop-down menus.
  • On the next tab, enter your email address and password.
  • On your Android computer, it will begin validating server settings. If a popup requesting Remote security administration appears, tap OK and continue to the next page to complete your sign-in.
